Current Projects

Major projects in 2017:

  • Developing a website with educational material about the origin of life.
  • Continue to promote and support the Open Data Fit project (see 2016 project).

Major projects in 2016:

  • Supporting and assisting with the organisation of the 23rd IUPAC Conference on Physical Organic Chemistry (ICPOC23) at UNSW, Sydney, 3-8 July 2016 which includes Supramolecular and Systems Chemistry as one of three main streams. Our involvement included assistance with managing the registration process for the conference. Over 300 people attended this conference.

  • Promoting and raising funds for the Open Data Fit project which includes web-based tools on supramolecular.org to calculate binding constants and then store the resulting data in such a way that it will be accessible in accordance with open access to data principles. The website has now been visited over 10,000 times and cited 11 times in the literature (Scopus - April 2015 to December 2016).

  • Forum on the Future of Chemistry with guest of honour, Prof. George Whitesides, Harvard Univeristy. This forum was held at UNSW on the 6th July 2016. See video recording from the forum here.

If you have further questions about these projects or would like to discuss other possible projects that you think Systems Chemistry Australia could be interested in supporting or getting involved in, please contact our Director and Chairperson, Prof. Pall Thordarson.
